Death and Desecration Nets NJ Man 30 Years in Prison

Morris County prosecutors say 24-year-old Carlos Rojas of North Bergen received a 30-year sentence on Friday. He will have to serve 17 years before he becomes eligible for parole.

Rojas had been convicted in October on numerous charges, including aggravated manslaughter, kidnapping and desecrating human remains.

Prosecutors say Rojas fatally beat 27-year-old Esteban Hernandez of North Bergen during an attack in Fairview in August 2011, then moved the body to a wooded area of Lincoln Park.

Hernandez was found dead there the day after he was beaten.

Authorities have not said what spurred the attack.
