3 Firefighters Hurt During Chester County House Fire

Three firefighters were hurt while battling a 2-alarm fire in Chester County Sunday night

The fire began at a home on Highland Hill Lane in Charlestown, Pennsylvania around 7:15 p.m. A family was inside the home at the time but got out safely.

The flames were intense and heavy smoke could be seen throughout the second floor when firefighters arrived. They were able to bring the flames under control at 9:08 p.m.

Three responding firefighters suffered injuries during the blaze. One firefighter slipped on the ice and broke his ankle. A second firefighter suffered chest pain after battling the flames. A third firefighter suffered smoke inhalation.

All three victims were taken to Phoenixville Hospital and are expected to be okay.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire though the fire chief told NBC10 it appears to be accidental.
