Grandmother Charged with Child Endangerment

Monday's second wandering toddler

A wandering 3-year-old in Bensalem sends police on a frantic search for the toddler’s parents and lands his grandmother in cuffs.

Monday afternoon, a witness tipped off Bensalem Police, saying that a young child was walking unaccompanied along Brown Avenue.

When they arrived around 12:45 p.m., they found a 3-year-old walking alone, according to a press release.

For the next 40 minutes, two officers tried to track down the child’s guardian(s). Finally making their way to Regency Apartments, they found the toddler’s grandmother, 48-year-old Lisa McLawhorn.

According the report, McLawhorn had a blood alcohol level of .135 and wasn’t even aware that the child was missing.

She was arrested and will be arraigned later Monday evening.

The child’s mother arrived home while police were still on the scene.

The toddler was unharmed.

This missing 3-year-old shouldn’t be confused with the one walking around the Frankford section of Philadelphia Monday morning. Mark, which is the name this second child gave to police, was found by police around 9 a.m. and has been with them since as they search for his guardian(s).
