Three Camden men have been named as the suspects in the carjacking and murder of an Old Bridge, N.J. man from the Atlantic City Trump Taj Mahal Casino Sunday.
Police are searching for Phillip Byrd, 20, Eric Darden, 20, and Raheem Simmons, 18, all from Camden, N.J.
Byrd, Darden and Simmons were caught on surveillance camera at about 8 a.m. Sunday just before they approached 28-year-old Sunil Rattu of Old Bridge, N.J. and 24-year-old Radha Ghetia of Parlin, N.J. and forced them at gunpoint into a vehicle.
The three men then forced Ghetia to drive several blocks to an alley. They then shot both Ghetia and Rattu, killing Rattu, police say.
Ghetia, the girlfriend of the victim, is expected to make a full recovery.
Rattu and Ghetia were in Atlantic City to celebrate their graduation from nursing school, Rattu’s family told NBC Philadelphia.
Authorities say that Byrd, Darden and Simmons parked their Saturn Ion at the Hilton before approaching a female Bally's employee on her way into work. She was able to escape a potential attack.
She was also able to get the license plate number of the Saturn, which was reported missing from Haddonfield, N.J. last month.
Police say they now have surveillance of the three suspects returning to that stolen car with the victims’ belongings after shooting them.
Arrest warrants for the men were issued on Wednesday morning. Police say they should be considered armed and dangerous.
