Three women were hit by a truck while getting off a NJ transit bus, police say

Three women were hospitalized after they were hit by a truck while getting off a transit bus in Bayville Friday.

It happened around 8:17 p.m. along Route 9 near Frederick Drive in Ocean County. Investigators say three women --ages 34, 24, and 21 -- were struck by a 1998 Dodge truck. One of the women was carrying a 3-year-old child. Police say the child was not injured.

The driver, 70-year-old Thomas Carrano of Bayville, was not charged but police say they are still investigating.

Investigators say the women were transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center at Neptune and listed in serious condition.
