Three boys are safe after falling into an icy pond in Chester County that had appeared frozen in recent days.
The Daily Local of West Chester reports that the boy fell into a lake Saturday at Kerr Park in Downingtown.
Firefighters say two of the boys made their way out of the water right away, while the third did so shortly after rescuers arrived.
Glenn Heininger of Downingtown's Minquas Fire Company says the boys and other youngsters say they have been walking on the pond during the recent cold spell. But he warns that it's best not to risk it.
The newspaper reports that the air temperature at the time was 27 degrees.
