Medical Emergency Diverts Philly-Bound Flight

For the second time in 10 days, a medical emergency forces a flight heading to Philadelphia from Venice to make an unplanned landing in Ireland.

U.S. Airways Flight 715 from Venice landed in Dublin Monday afternoon after several of its crew members became sick, according to an airline spokesperson.

Officials did not disclose what afflicted the crew members or how many became ill during the flight.

But a report from The Aviation Herald indicates three flight attendants reported medical issues upon landing.

The Airbus A330-200 had 238 passengers and 12 crew members on board when the pilot decided to switch directions and land in Dublin, according to The Aviation Herald.

A replacement crew will fly the plane to Philadelphia Tuesday morning, the U.S. Airways spokesperson said.

A similar incident on another U.S. Airways flight traveling between Venice and Philly occurred May 10.

During that trip, nine flight attendants began to complain of nausea, running eyes and dizziness while in the air.
