25th Annual Wawa Welcome America Event Schedule

The 25th Annual Wawa Welcome America takes place from June 29 to July 4. The six-day festival features over 50 events leading up to the holiday on Tuesday. From concerts, to fireworks to movies, each event leads up to the Independence Day Celebration.

At this year's Wawa Welcome America, there are several events that will take place throughout the entire six-day festival. The Sand Sculpture Spectacular will return this year in the Rotunda at The Shops at Liberty Place. The retail complex will be transformed to include life-size sand sculptures of historic imagery and icons. The Philadelphia International Airport will also display a World Heritage City Exhibition the full week of the celebration. The exhibit will include photos of all 67 National Historic Landmarks set against the views of Independence Hall. In addition, there will be a Free Museum Day at various sites across the city. Each night will also feature Philly @ the Movies which features an outdoor film free to the public at a different location each night.

The week will kick off with the 25th annual Wawa Hoagie Day. Come out to Independence Mall & National Constitution Center Lawn to enjoy a free Wawa hoagie, a performance by the USO Show Troupe, and a hoagie-building competition between police and firefighters. In the evening, the Mummers Museum will be the site of PECO Go 4th & Learn and a Concert by Quaker City.

Start your holiday weekend off with a visit to Red, White & Blue Happy Hours at one of the participating bars across Philadelphia. At night, Penn's Landing will be the site of a free neighborhood concert and the first night of fireworks. The world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra will perform on the RiverStage around 8 PM. Following the performance, the Wawa Welcome America Fireworks will light the sky over the Delaware River, choreographed to a soundtrack honoring the best American composers.

Saturday is full of events and shows that you don't want to miss. In each of Philadelphia's 10 Council Districts, a public performance will showcase various groups from across the city. Monument Lab, a public art and history project from Mural Arts Philadelphia, will guide a public discussion about civic engagement, social justice and various other topics. The Go 4th & Learn Series will return for another entertaining and educational afternoon at Fairhill Square. The Night Market Philadelphia is back for another year to bring residents a wide variety of foods and flavors at 40th and Walnut streets. The waterfront will once again be the site of evening events starting at SugarHouse Casino. Red, White & Brew will start at 5 PM and will continue leading up to the second night of fireworks on Penn's Landing. Also taking place on the Delaware River Waterfront, The US Army Band Pershing's Own returns this year for another highly anticipated performance around 8 PM.

Red, White & Brunch kicks off the second half of the week with a morning of food specials at some of the city's best restaurants. The evening activities are highlighted at the Art Museum steps, starting with another PECO Go 4th & Learn. Sunday's version of this event will follow the theme of Rocky leading up to the movie showing at the site of the film's most famous scene.

On the eve of America's birthday, Philadelphia's Historic District Block Party returns with a line up of activities and events celebrating Independence Day. With varied entertainment, food and art, the block party will provide something to do for people of all ages. Philly POPS will follow up with its annual free July 3 show in front of the Historic Independence Hall. The 65-piece Orchestra will perform a patriotic, entertaining show that will feature guest vocalist and Hamilton star Mandy Gonzalez.

The 4th of July will conclude the six-day fest with a full day of events commemorating the holiday. The Celebration of Freedom Ceremony kicks off around 10 AM at Independence Hall. Immediately following is the annual United States of America Independence Day Parade that begins at Independence Mall. At the conclusion of the parade, Independence Mall will be the site of the Let Freedom Ring Ceremony, the 6th Annual Birthday Party, and free entertainment related to some of the country's most important historical events. Meanwhile at the Betsy Ross House, a group of children will take the Oath of Allegiance, continuing the traditional patriotic event occurring every year on the 4th.nThe Benjamin Franklin Parkway will host the Party on the Parkway starting at noon. The five blocks of free entertainment is headlined by a KIDZ BOP performance in the afternoon, and the official Wawa Welcome America July 4th concert in the evening. The concert is headlined by the best-selling R&B group of all time, Boyz II Men, and nine time Grammy Award winner Mary J. Blige.nThe Delaware River Waterfront and Ben Franklin Parkway will display simultaneous firework shows immediately following the concert. Join the electrifying show at either location to celebrate to holiday and end of the 6-day festival.
