$25K Reward for Arrest in Murder of Family

The city has posted a $25,000 reward for tips leading to the capture and conviction of those responsible for killing a west Philadelphia bodega owner on his 50th birthday along with his wife and sister.

Police say the Sept. 6 slayings occurred during an armed robbery at Lorena's Grocery in the Mill Creek section of the city. Fifty-year-old Porfiro Nunez, his 49-year-old wife Carmen, and 42-year-old Lina Sanchez were killed.

Two men in their mid-20s were seen on surveillance video walking to the store and then running away.

In announcing the reward Friday, Mayor Michael Nutter described the slayings as “heinous.”

Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Ross said police are seeking help in locating a white work van seen in the area.
