$20 Tech Gadget Creates ‘World's Largest Lost & Found'

Ever “lose” your keys, only to realize they were in your purse the entire time? What about your wallet, which you accuse someone for moving, when it actually slid under the car seat?

Tile, a matchbook-sized technology built by two Burlingame, Calif., software and hardware engineers, can be attached to any important item that a user seemingly always misplaces.

The product is synced with the mobile Tile application, which allows users to view approximately how far away they are from lost items (a signal strength meter increases as a user gets closer to the goods).

If a user is outside Bluetooth’s standard 100-foot range, he or she can still be directed to where an item was last spotted. The Tile app also has a crowdsourcing feature.
