20 Bucks County Middle Schoolers Suffer Heat Exhaustion After Baseball Game

More than a dozen middle school students from Bucks County, Pennsylvania were sent to the hospital and several others treated by paramedics after suffering heat exhaustion, police said.

Lower Makefield Police said 20 students from William Penn Middle School got sick after attending a Trenton Thunder baseball game Thursday afternoon. Temperatures reached 91 degrees in a sudden warm up ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

Two girls were overwhelmed by the heat at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton, police said. They were taken to Capital Health System for treatment.

Twelve students -- nine girls and three boys -- became sick after getting back to school and were taken to Aria Health Bucks County and St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment, police said.

Police said six other students were treated at the school and will be picked up by their parents.

The Trenton Thunder beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2-1.
