2-Year-Old Shot in Leg Recovering “Perfectly”, Mom is Raising Money

A two-year-old girl who police say was shot in the leg by her father last month is recovering quickly and “perfectly”, according to her mom.

Tori Lynn was shot in the leg when her father was trying to show her mom how a handgun worked, not realizing it was loaded, investigators said. The bullet fired into Tori Lynn’s leg and ended up lodged in her hip. Now, less than a week later, Tori Lynn is recovering better than doctors initially expected. She’s doing so well that doctors say she may not even need a third surgery.

“She’s adapting amazingly,” her mom, Heather Mary Jenkins, said.

Since Tori Lynn requires full time extensive care, Heather can’t work. Bills are starting to accumulate, so Heather’s friend suggested she start a Go Fund Me account, where users can donate money to the family.

“So far it’s been a mixture of people we do and don’t know sending money in,” Heather said, “it’s been going really well.”

Some of Tori Lynn’s medical supplies aren’t covered by insurance, so Heather says every bit helps.

Tori Lynn’s father was arrested after the incident. Heather is unaware of what is happening in his legal process, and has not talked to him or his public defender.
