2 Women Arrested in Donation Jar Case

Women arrested on charges of theft for stealing a pair of donation jars from a 7-Eleven

Two women were arrested on charges of misdemeanor theft for stealing a pair of donation jars from a Warminster Township convenience store, say police.

Melissa Ann Sanginiti, 22, of Ashton Drive in Jamison, Pa., and Sofia Ugarte, 23, of East Street Road in Warminster, Pa., were charged with misdemeanor theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

The arrest happened a week-and-a-half after the two were caught on a 7-Eleven surveillance camera taking donation jars for the Wheeled Scotsman Foundation and the Christine McGee Fund 1:30 a.m. May 23.

The jars contained $40, police say.

According to police, Ugarte was wearing the baseball hat in the surveillance footage and stole the jars while Sanginiti distracted the clerk.

Police said Sanginiti and Ugarte will receive a summons in the mail for their first court appearance.
