2 to Stand Trial for Manslaughter in Football Player's Overdose

Two 18-year-old Pennsylvania men have been ordered to stand trial on involuntary manslaughter and other charges for moving a dying 17-year-old friend out of one car to leave him in another after he overdosed on heroin and the prescription anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

Attorneys for Noah Lalama, of Monaca, and Terell Shelton, of Bellevue, argued Tuesday that their clients were not legally required to care for Dominick Treemarchi and are distraught over his death.

Treemarchi died early Dec. 7, a few days before he was to play for Central Valley High School in the PIAA Class AAA football championship game.

A district judge rejected those arguments and ordered the defendants to stand trial after Tuesday's preliminary hearing. Two minor teens also present face juvenile charges.
