A judge has refused to separate the trials of two staff members from that of the abortion doctor accused of killing live-born babies with scissors at a filthy West Philadelphia clinic.
The judge on Thursday denied requests by Eileen O'Neill and Madeline Joe to have their cases separated from that of Dr. Kermit Gosnell.
Gosnell is charged with murder in the killings of seven babies and the overdose death of a pregnant woman who sought an abortion at his clinic. The allegations were detailed in a grand jury report released in January that detailed filthy, disturbing conditions at the clinic.
Neither O'Neill nor Joe are charged with killing babies. Their attorneys argued the horrifying allegations against Gosnell could unfairly taint their cases.
Six other defendants have already pleaded guilty.
2 to Stand Trial With Doc in Abortion Case: Judge
The attorneys for two of Gosnell’s employees argued that because they are not accused of killing babies they should not stand trial with the man charged with killing babies.
