2 More Pennsylvania Hospitals Designated as Ebola Treatment Centers

Health officials have designated hospitals in central and eastern as Pennsylvania's first Ebola treatment centers outside Philadelphia.

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center near Harrisburg and Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem were added to the list Tuesday.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services last month included the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia among an initial group of 35 designated hospitals across the country.

State health secretary Michael Wolf says the facilities were deemed to have the staff, equipment, training and resources to safely care for Ebola.

West Africa has suffered the worst Ebola outbreak in history, with at least 8,000 deaths. Four cases have been diagnosed in the United States.
