2 Dead After Robbery, Shootout in West Philly

Two men are dead after a robbery victim and an armed gunman opened fire on each other in West Philly Thursday night.

Two men were walking along North Conestoga Sreet, near Lansdowne Avenue, in West Philly around 10:30 p.m. when two other men approached them, brandished a weapon and demanded they empty their pockets, police said.

One of the robbery victims, who had a license to carry, pulled out his own gun and began shooting, investigators said.

Three of the four men -- including the unarmed robbery victim -- were hit, authorities said.

The three wounded men were rushed to Presbyterian Hospital, where two were pronounced dead.

An investigation is underway.
