2 Women Struck After Groper Gunman Fires Shots During House Party

Police are on the hunt for a gunman who allegedly groped several women and then opened fire during a house party in North Philadelphia.

Investigators say a crowd of people who attended the party were standing outside on the 3300 block of North Smedley Street around midnight on Sunday. While they were outside, an unidentified man began to inappropriately touch several women in the crowd.

“The crowd noticed this, took offense to it and basically starts yelling at him and a fight starts breaking out,” said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs.

The suspect then allegedly pulled out a gun and fired three shots into the crowd before fleeing the scene.

An 18-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the stomach while a 25-year-old woman was struck in the leg. The 18-year-old refused medical treatment while the 25-year-old was taken to Temple University Hospital where she is currently in stable condition.

No arrests have been made. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect.
