A 16-year-old boy is recovering from a stab wound to his neck and a 17-year-old boy is recovering from a slash to his leg after an attempted armed robbery at a neighborhood carnival in Bustleton Friday night.

Police said the victims were approached at around 10 p.m. at the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary church carnival on Old Bustleton Avenue near Welsh Road by a group of three teens who demanded their money and belongings. A struggle ensued and one of the suspects pulled out a box cutter and began slashing at the victims.

It was unclear whether the suspects fled with any of the victims’ money or belongings.

Fire officials said the boys were taken to Aria-Torresdale Hospital. Their conditions were unclear Friday night.

Police in the Northeast Detective Division said the incident was one of many crimes police have responded to in the area since the carnival began earlier this week.

A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available.
