2 Hurt During Robbery, Shooting in Cheltenham Twp.

Two people are in the hospital after a shooting and robbery in Cheltenham Township.

Police say a gunman entered the second floor of an apartment on 22 Central Avenue near Cottman Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday. 

The suspect allegedly held a 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old man inside at gunpoint and demanded that they give up their money, wallets, cell phones and any money from their safe.

Police say the suspect then shot the 26-year-old man in the right knee and pistol-whipped him. The 25-year-old man then jumped out of the window to escape, suffering a head injury in the process.

Police say the suspect struggled briefly with the 26-year-old man and then fled on foot on Jefferson Avenue. The suspect is described as a man in his 20's, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 200 pounds with a beard. Police also say he was wearing a black puffy coat, black beanie style-hat, black pants and was carrying a silver handgun.

Both victims were taken to Abington Hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
