Double Shooting Ruled Apparent Murder Suicide

Man shoots his estranged wife before killing himself, police say

Investigators are calling the double shooting at a Chester County home an apparent murder-suicide.

The shooting happened at a home along the 200 block of Lenora Lane in East Brandywine Township, Pa. just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, police say.

Eric Aston, 42, was having a conversation with his 41-year-old estranged wife Audra outside the man's parent's home when he pulled out a gun and shot Audra once in the head, police say.

Family members rushed outside after hearing the loud bang to find Eric holding a gun. They tried to get the man to put the gun down, but he ran to the backyard and shot himself in the head, police say.

Eric was pronounced dead at the scene. A medevac helicopter flew Audra to Chester Crozer Hospital, where she later died, according to authorities.

The husband and their 11-year-old son had been staying at the home after the couple separated, police say. The couple started arguing after Audra tried to take their son out to dinner.

The investigation is ongoing.
