2 Officers Injured When Man Sets Fire to Home: Police

The two officers were taken to Doylestown Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation

Two police officers were injured late Sunday night after responding to a call that a man had set his own home on fire.

Police arrived at the home on the 4600 block of County Line Road in New Britain around 11:00 p.m.

Investigators say Julius Hamburg, 53, and his son had gotten in an argument and Hamburg threatened to burn down the house.

He poured gasoline on the floor and set it on fire, according to investigators. The son called police as he tried to put the fire out with a garden hose.

After arriving on the scene, police say Hamburg fought with them as they took him out of the house.

The two officers suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at Doylestown Hospital.

Hamburg was arrested after being treated at Abington Hospital for cuts to his head.
