2 Men Sentenced for Firing Shots at Group of Teens

Two Atlantic City men who fired several shots into a group of teens outside a city apartment complex have each been sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Nineteen-year-old Luis Camargo and 18-year-old Keanan Butcher initially were charged as juveniles in the October 2011 shooting at the High Gate Apartments. But the case was moved up to adult court and both men pleaded guilty in January to attempted homicide and weapons charges.

Authorities have not said what spurred the shootings, which left a 16-year-old boy seriously injured with a shoulder wound. The youth has since recovered.

Camargo and Butcher will each have to serve nearly 12 years before they become eligible for parole. And once they are freed from prison, each will have to serve five years of supervised release.
