2 Deadly Shootings Within a Matter of Minutes

Two men were killed in separate shootings within minute of each other Monday night.

Police say the first victim, a 22-year-old man, was on the 600 block of Franklin Place around 9 p.m. in the Spring Garden section of the city.

The man was struck several times in the back. He was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital where he was pronounced dead just minutes later.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said evidence at the scene indicated that at least 15 shots had been fired from two guns.

Police say the second victim, a 35-year-old man, was inside a vacant property on the 3300 block of Amber Street in Kensington shortly after 9 p.m. when a gunman opened fire.

The man was struck once in the chest. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he died about 30 minutes later.
