Twins Struck by Car in North Philly

According to neighbors both children were sitting on their bikes on a sidewalk when a car hit them

Police say two 11-year-old children were injured after being struck by a car in North Philadelphia Saturday.

It happened around 4 p.m. in the 900 block of Birch Street. According to neighbors the 58-year-old driver of an SUV hit a parked car, that car hit the two children who were sitting on their bikes on the sidewalk.

Police say neighbors pulled the suspect from the car and assaulted him. They held him until police arrived. The man was transported to Temple University Hospital with minor injuries.

The brother and sister, who are twins, were transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital were they are listed in serious but stable condition, according to police. The boy suffered head and ankle injuries. The girl suffered head injuries and a broken leg, according to her father Steve Feliciano.

No word on what caused the accident at this time.
