2 Hurt When Truck, Train Collide

Two people were injured when the pickup truck they were in collided with a New Jersey Transit train in central New Jersey.

No one aboard the New York City-bound train was injured in the crash, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday in Ocean Township. But details on what caused the accident remain under investigation.

The Asbury Park Press reports that 24 people were aboard train 4388, which had departed from Bay Head shortly before the accident occurred. All the passengers were removed from the train and transported to another location via bus.

The pickup's driver, 47-year old DonnaMari Acquaro of Ocean, suffered a broken leg, while her passenger, 55-year-old Ricardo Melendez of Keansburg, was being treated for chest pains. Acquaro was charged with careless driving and interfering with transportation.
