2 Fire Trucks Destroyed in NJ Fire

Firefighters escaped injury but two brush trucks were destroyed in a brush fire in Salem.

The wind suddenly shifted as firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which burned about 100 acres Sunday.

Salem City Councilman Charles Hassle tells the South Jersey Times the men were able to get out, but the vehicles weren't. The brush trucks belonged to the Pennsville and Elsinboro fire companies.

At one point, the brush fire threatened some homes and an apartment complex. Firefighters protected the structures.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
