2 Fallen Officers Laid to Rest Friday

Friends, Family and fellow officers will honor Philadelphia Officer Brian Lorenzo and Millville Officer Christopher Reeves.

Today is a difficult day for the law enforcement communities in Philadelphia and South Jersey as two fallen officers are laid to rest.

Philadelphia Police Officer Brian Lorenzo died last Sunday when his motorcycle was struck by a suspected drunk driver, John Leck, Jr., who was driving the wrong way on I-95.

Hundreds gathered Thursday night to honor Lorenzo at a public wake. Hundreds more are expected at a second viewing Friday morning starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Mayor Michael Nutter and Lorenzo's family will speak at 11:15 and the funeral begins at noon.

In New Jersey, funeral services for Officer Christopher Reeves will begin at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Middle School in Millville with the burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Officer Reeves was killed Sunday when his police cruiser collided with another car, driven by Timothy Seidel. Police say Seidel was fleeing from police at the time of the crash.

Reeves is the first Millville cop ever killed in the line of duty.

Both officers leave behind wives and children.
