Delaware State Police say the bodies of two people were found after a vehicle was pulled out of the C & D canal near Delaware City.
Investigators believe the 2003 Ford Escape went into the canal more than a week ago, when the driver, David Kaminski, 42, of Wilmington, lost control while speeding along the southern bank of the canal. His passenger was identified as Stefanie Miller, 36, of Claymont.
The investigation into the crash began Friday after detectives following up on a missing person's case went to the canal and found debris indicating that a vehicle may have entered the water.
Searchers on Saturday found the vehicle upside down in about 40 feet of water and 150 feet from the canal bank.
