NJ Student, 17, Sentenced for Assaulting Another Student

A judge has ordered a 17-year-old New Brunswick High School student to serve 60 days in a youth detention center for assaulting another student.

The boy pleaded guilty to juvenile delinquency for a charge that would have been the equivalent of aggravated assault if committed by an adult. His name has not been released because of his age.

Prosecutors say the boy, who was 16 years old at the time, knocked the 15-year-old victim to the floor and repeatedly punched and kicked the victim in March. The victim sustained facial and dental injuries and a sprained collar bone.
