The mayor of Upper Darby, Edward Brown, shared a statement to the community on Monday that reads:

"Less than two months ago, I shared the heartbreaking news of the death of an Upper Darby High School student who was shot and killed. Tragically, I find myself reaching out once again with similar, devastating news. Yesterday, another young life was lost—another Upper Darby student, just sixteen years old, was shot and killed in our township. I want to extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to the victim’s family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and loved him. My heart breaks for your loss. There are no words that can ease your pain, but please know that you are not alone. Our entire community grieves with you. These kinds of tragedies are becoming far too common, but that does not make them any less painful—or any more acceptable. We must come together as a community to ensure that people of all ages, especially our youth, feel safe, supported, and valued. Violence is never the answer. We have to do better. And we can do better—together. In the meantime, if anyone has any information related to this incident, I urge you to contact the Upper Darby Police Department at 610-734-7693. Your voice matters. It’s during times like these that we must come together and prioritize what matters most: life, community, and the safety of our youth."
