16-Year-Old Shot in Chest in West Philadelphia

A 16-year-old boy is fighting to stay alive after being shot in the chest in West Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon.

The teen was shot around 3:30 p.m. near 56th and Vine streets, police said. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Trauma Center where he was last listed in critical condition, police said.

A motive for the shooting isn't known and a weapon hasn't been recovered.

The boy is the second teen to be shot in the neighborhood within 24 hours. A teen was shot three times in the stomach on his Overbrook porch early Wednesday morning.
