14 Precious Cats Die, 3 People Homeless After Pennsylvania Fire

Firefighters said 14 cats died in a fire that displaced 3 people from their central Pennsylvania home.

The Altoona Mirror reported the fire Thursday started in the cats' bedding in a carport at the Altoona home.

Firefighters said one of the cats may have knocked over a heated lightbulb that was put there to keep them warm.

The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. and quickly spread through the home.

A man inside was able to get out. No one else was home. Three of the family's 17 cats survived.

Neighbors said they saw flames shooting 20 feet from the roof. Firefighters said the home is a total loss.
