11-Year-Old's iPod Leads to Cyberstalking

Haverford Twp. Police are searching for the person who attempted to solicit sexually explicit photos from the girl.

Police in Haverford Township are searching for the person they say began cyberstalking an 11-year-old girl last month.

Authorities say that in April, the child was chatting on her iPod Touch with someone she believed was a 12-year-old boy – that is, until that person began making threats. The suspect allegedly told the girl if she didn’t send sexually explicit pictures of herself, he’d spread her personal information on the Internet.

The girl told her mom of the threats and the two paid a visit to police to report the incident.

The iPod Touch is now in police custody. They are attempting to trace the inappropriate conversation to identify alleged cyberstalker.

Police are warning both children and parents of the dangers of chatting with strangers on a computer as well as on a smart device.
