10-Year-Old Boy Dies After Jumping from New Jersey School Window

Authorities say 10-year-old boy has died from injuries he suffered when he jumped from a second-story window at his northern New Jersey school.

The Record reports that it's not yet clear what caused the fifth-grade student to jump around noon Friday afternoon. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died around 5 p.m.

The incident occurred at the Grant School in Dumont. The boy's name has not been released, and district officials have declined comment on the matter.

District officials say they will make counselors available to students, parents and staff. They said the Grant School will be open Monday morning.
