1 Dead, 1 Injured After Power Line Traps 2 in Northeast Philly

One person is dead and another injured after a driver lost control of a car and hit a power line in Northeast Saturday night.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of Algon Avenue. Investigators say the driver hit a poll knocking down power lines. The lines fell over the car and trapped the driver and a passenger inside.

Investigators say one person died.  A second person was removed from the car and taken to an area hospital.

More than 800 customers went without power for a period of time, according to PECO.
