1 Dead, 1 Critical After Car Splits in Half

The accident happened shortly after midnight in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia.

One person is dead and another injured after a car accident in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia.

It happened Saturday morning around 12:30 a.m. on Roosevelt Boulevard and Holme Avenue.  Police say a 1998 Buick Regal traveling southbound on Roosevelt struck a street light on the southwest corner, splitting the car in half.

The driver, Rasheed Blacknight, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 22-year-old unidentified man, was taken to the hospital. He is currently in critical condition.
