1-Year-Old Killed Playing With Farm Equipment: Police

A young boy died on Sunday in Maxatawny Township

A 1-year-old boy was killed while playing around with a piece of farm equipment, according to Berks-Lehigh Regional Police.

The child is identified as John Edward Burkholder, the coroner's office confirmed Sunday night. He died from asphyxiation, and it was accidental, according to the coroner.

Officers were called to Burkholder's Farm Market just after 4:00 p.m. Sunday on the 600 block of Topton Road in Maxatawny Township, Berks County.



The incident is still under investigation, and police haven't released any other details of what type of equipment the child was playing with when he was killed.

There were no other injuries reported.
