Hunt for Machete-Wielding Attacker: Police

Vineland Police say a woman was stabbed in the face, head, hands and body. Investigators say she knew the man who attacked her

Vineland Police are looking for the suspect they say is behind a stabbing on the 400 block of South 6th Street late Wednesday night.

Investigators say a 41-year-old woman was stabbed by Eugenio Morales, 43, with a machete in the back of the neck, face, hands and body around 10 p.m. The victim was flown to Cooper University Hospital where she is in critical condition.

Police say the woman knows Morales, but didn't specify their relationship.

Morales fled the scene in a black SUV. Vineland, Franklin and Monroe Police chased the car through three counties -- Cumberland, Camden and Atlantic -- before losing the vehicle on Route 54, authorities tell NBC10.

The vehicle was later recovered in an abandoned area of Jackson Road and Route 54, according to police.

The search continued Thursday night. Authorities are considering him armed and dangerous. They're asking anyone with information to immediately call 911.
