1 Dead in Home Fire

Investigators have not released the cause of the fire

One person is dead after a fire ripped through a home in Philadelphia early Saturday morning.

The fire started shortly before 3:30 a.m. on the 200 block of East Roosevelt Boulevard in the Feltonville section of the city.

Investigators say four people were in the home at the time. The victim was found in the basement of the home. At least one person was taken to the hospital for injuries. There is no word on their condition.

Two adults and a child were able to make it out of the home safely thanks to a Good Samaritan who opened the back door of the home and helped them escape, Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said.

Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen. There was one fire alarm in the home but it was not working, according to authorities.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
