High Winds Cause Outages, Damage Across Area

Emergency crews work to restore power to thousands of customers

Clean-up crews were out in full force Sunday sweeping away scattered debris and enormous tree branches that fell due to whipping winds that ripped through the area over the weekend.

Workers removed huge tree limbs from several cars and homes throughout the Mt. Airy section of the city. Residents along Easton Avenue spent most of the day assessing the damage.

"The wind was blowing hard. We heard a crack and we didn't know what it was...I thought it was lightning or something," Roman Davis said.

Utility crews worked to restore power to thousands of PECO customers. More than 25,000 customers were without power in Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties Saturday night. Officials say they expect all power to be restored by Sunday night.

In South Jersey, about 5,100 customers lost power, according to a PSE&G spokesperson. Officials say power has since been restored in that area.
