Missing Dad's Body Found Behind Mall: Police

Martin Caballero went to Atlantic City to celebrate his daughter's 22nd birthday. He went to park the car and never returned.

Police think a body found by a farmer on Sunday is Martin Caballero, the man who disappeared after dropping his wife and two daughters off at a casino last Friday. The remains were found in a remote field behind the Hamilton Mall in Hamilton Township, N.J.

The A.C. prosecutor said that because of evidence at the scene and the condition of the remains, he is highly confident the remains are those of 47-year-old Caballero and they've notified his family. Investigators expect to positively identify the body with military records next week.

"My heart goes out to this family," said Atlantic City Prosecutor Ted Housel. "I had been so hoping that this would not be the case, that might find him somewhere alive, perhaps injured."

Caballero, who was from Jersey City, disappeared after dropping his wife and daughters off at the Trump Taj Mahal. The family was celebrating his daughter Jessica's 22nd birthday. Martin went to park the car and never returned.

"How did this happen," cried Jessica Caballero as the family made a public plea for any information in the case three days after her dad's disappearance. "I wanna know how they took him and nobody saw anything."

Two people – Craig Arno, 44, and Jessica Kisby, 24, were charged Friday with carjacking Caballero in the casino's parking lot and then abducting him. Surveillance video showed another car approaching Caballero's inside the garage.

“We allege Ms. Kisby then approached the spot in which Mr. Caballero parked, followed by Mr. Arno," Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said on Friday when the two were arrested and charged. "There was a physical approach.”

Surveillance video shows Caballero following the other car out of the garage minutes later, authorities say.

Caballero's car was found a few hours later, torched and empty.

Investigators used surveillance video and pictures to build their case against Arno and Kisby. They have video of a man they believe is Arno, using Caballero's ATM card to withdraw $300 in Egg Harbor Township, within hours of Caballero's disappearance. Surveillance pictures from an Exxon in Pleasantville show a woman police say is Kisby, filling up a gas container. Investigators think that gas was used to torch Caballero's car.
