University of Pennsylvania Nursing Tops National Ranking

The University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing grabbed the top spot in U.S. News & World Report's ranking of master's degree programs for nurses. Penn ranked first in five categories: administration, gerontology-acute care, gerontology-primary care, pediatric-primary care and family care. It also finished tied for first with the UCSF in the psychiatric/mental health care category.

Penn topped the nursing schools at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and the University of California-San Francisco, which tied for second in this year's study.

Four other Philadelphia-area nursing schools made the publication's list of the country's top 125 master's degree programs for nurses.
