Philly Tops for Green Infrastructure: Report

Philadelphia is tops in the country for working to reduce stormwater pollution through eco-friendly measures like green roofs and porous asphalt.

An environmental group has released a report ranking the city of Philadelphia tops in the country for working to reduce stormwater pollution through eco-friendly measures like green roofs and porous asphalt.

The Natural Resources Defense Council's report says Philadelphia is a national model for its long-term plan to clean waterways through infrastructure and design changes that are cost effective.

The report says Philadelphia leads the way with its commitment to green roofs, permeable pavement, rain gardens and other practices to stop urban street runoff and sewage overflows from ending up in the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers.
