Democratic Congressman Seeking to Change Chambers

U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak wants to be knows as independent.

Congressman Sestak bucked Democratic party leaders with his decision to unseat Arlen Specter.  Sestak, who's serving his 2ND term in the U.S. House won a surprising primary victory over Specter.

Specter, the senior Senator from Pennsylvania had the backing of his longtime friend and fellow AMTRAK commuter, Vice President Joe Biden, as well as President Barack Obama

Sestak also created a firestorm for the White House with a remark that he was offered some kind of favor to stay out of the Democratic primary.  There have been no findings of any election violations.

Joe Sestak is 58. He and his wife have one child.
