Smurfit-Stone seeks bankruptcy protection

Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., the largest producer of cardboard box materials in North America, on Monday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it looks to restructure a heavy debt amid a global credit freeze.
