Virtually no one in the United States was more generous last year than H.F. "Gerry" and Marguerite Lenfest. According to the Chronicle of Philanthropy's annual list of top charitable donors, the Lenfests, of Huntingdon Valley, gave away $139.9 million in 2008, more than all but five other living individuals or couples.
