Dear Harry: In these very uncertain times, how does a couple nearing retirement make plans? My employer has a mandatory retirement age of 66, which leaves me five years to get my house in order. They do not make exceptions. I am fully vested in the plan so I hoped that the pension and my SS would enable us to live in the same manner as we are currently. Then came 2008 and the amount in the fund took a wicked hit after a lot of good years.
