The Dow Jones industrial average fell nearly 300 points yesterday, sliding to within a hair of its November low. The stock market was ridden by doubt and worry, analysts said: doubt about whether the $787 billion stimulus package signed yesterday by President Obama would work, and worry that the nation's banking system remained far from fixed.
