Carpenter Tech reports lower earnings, job cuts

Specialty metals producer Carpenter Technology Corp. announced today that it cut 20 percent of its upper-management corps through restructuring, on a day it also reported that first-quarter income from continuing operations was down more than 50 percent over last year.
